Iman Khalif appeals against the decision of the World Boxing Union

The Algerian Olympic champion Iman Khalif submitted an appeal before the Sports Arbitration Court, “Cass”, against the decision of the World Boxing Federation to prevent her from participating in the championships he is organizing, before she was subjected to the sexual determination test.

“Cass” said in a statement on its website: “Algerian boxing Iman Khalif submitted an appeal before the Sports Arbitration Court (CAS) against the World Boxing Federation regarding a decision to prevent sports from participating in the upcoming global boxing activities without taking a preliminary genetic test.”

He continued: “The appeal, submitted on August 5, 2025, seeks to cancel the decision of the World Boxing Union that Iman Khalif” was not allowed to participate in the boxing cup in Eindhoven, nor in any global boxing effectiveness until it is subject to the test of the genetic sex. “

The statement added: “He also requested an appeal from the Sports Arbitration Court to announce Iman Khalif qualified to participate in the World Boxing Championship 2025 from 4 to 14 September without a test.”

And he added: “On September 1, 2025, the Sports Arbitration Court (Cass) refused to suspend the implementation of the decision of the World Boxing Federation until the case is heard.”

He continued: “The two parties currently exchange written notes, and with their approval, the date of a hearing will be determined, the procedures of the Sports Arbitration Court (CAS) will be determined as a secret while it is running.”

The World Boxing Federation announced earlier the necessity of applying a mandatory test to determine the type of sex to all boxers in its competitions so that they could compete in official competitions.
