The conclusion of the meeting of the heads of the scientific teams for the traditional architecture in the Arab world

Sharjah, September 4 / WAM / The Sharjah Institute for Heritage concluded today the work of the coordination meeting of the heads of the scientific teams of the traditional architecture in the Arab world, which came with wide Arab participation by scientists, researchers, academics and specialists through sessions that witnessed scientific discussions and interventions, a number of proposals related to the encyclopedia, introducing them, setting curricula, adopting, looking at the first stage and evaluating them where The encyclopedia will focus on architectural terms throughout the Arab world and will discuss its strains.

Abu Bakr Al -Kindi, director of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, said this meeting is an important station in the march of the traditional architecture in the Arab world, which represents a comprehensive scientific reference for preserving the urban heritage and preserving the various cultural identity and reflects Sharjah’s position as a pioneering lighthouse and its continuous efforts in serving Arab heritage and contributing to enriching human civilization.

During today’s sessions, Dr. Fatima Ahmed Obaid Al -Mughni Al -Naqbi, a member of the encyclopedia, presented a paper on the traditional architecture in the “Emirates and the Arabian Gulf”, indicating their types and different from the coast to the Badia to the mountains and from there to the big cities, while the speakers also reviewed the urban heritage in the “Arab East Countries” and the patterns of traditional architecture in “North Africa.

Participants in the meetings stressed the importance of the Encyclopedia of the Traditional Architecture as aiming to revive a large part of the Arab architecture, which has ceased to exist with the presence of contemporary architecture, preserve it and transfer it to future generations, noting that the curricula were developed, approved, reviewing the first stage of it, evaluating it, and discussing the administrative and financial aspect of the project.

The participants valued the role of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, which adopted the project, setting all the capabilities that help to succeed and complete it, expressing their hope that the encyclopedia will be a new addition to the Arab library and culture.
