Emirates Space Agency launches the economic survey of the space sector 2025

Abu Dhabi, September 17 / WAM / The Emirates Space Agency launched today the Economic Survey of the Space Sector for the year 2025, to be directed to about 200 agencies working in the space sector or benefiting from it.

The survey contributes to enhancing transparency, and providing a clear image of the size of the sector, its trends, and its contribution to the gross domestic product.
This came during a workshop organized by the Emirates Space Agency today to launch this survey, with the participation of a group of representatives of the federal and local government agencies, the leaders of the private sector, academic and research institutions, and representatives of startups operating in the field of space.
Eng. Salem Butti Salem Al Qubaisi, Director General of the Emirates Space Agency, said that the workshop represents a continuous partnership to measure the performance of the space sector, praising the fruitful cooperation with all national partners and stressed that this cooperation guarantees the comprehensiveness of the survey and the reliability of its data, and reflects the maturity of the space environment in the country, and enrich the decision -making process with data based on scientific foundations.
For its part, Fatima Al Shamsi, Director of Policy and International Relations Department at the Emirates Space Agency, confirmed that the economic survey constitutes a strategic tool to understand the dynamics of the space sector, define opportunities and challenges accurately, and support decisions based on reliable scientific data.
She explained that the results of the survey will contribute to directing future policies and investments in a way that enhances the sector’s contribution to the non -oil national economy over the coming years.
She added that the agency launched the economic survey of the space sector in the UAE for the year 2025, with the aim of monitoring the reality of the sector and enhancing its contribution to the national economy.
Al -Shamsi said in a statement to “WAM” on the sidelines of the event, that the survey includes about 200 agencies working and benefiting from the space sector, and focuses on measuring a group of major indicators, the most prominent of which is the size of workers in the sector, the levels of spending on research and development, and space exploration, as well as public spending related to the space sector.
The survey was designed to be the national cognitive reference to measure the economic impact of the national space sector, in cooperation with government agencies, the private sector, academic and research institutions.
