Under the auspices of His Excellency Eng. Salem bin Nasser Al -Awfi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, in the Sultanate of Oman, the energy purchase agreement was signed for the project within a ceremony held in Muscat in the presence of Ahmed bin Salem Al -Abri, CEO of “Namaa to buy energy and water”; And Muhammad Jamil Al -Ramahi, CEO of Masdar; Ghalib bin Saeed Al -Maamari, Acting CEO of Okio Alternative Energy Company; And Sheikh Hind Suhail Bahwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Green Partners”; Young-Joe, CEO of Korea Midland Power Ltd.
On this occasion, His Excellency Eng. Salem bin Nasser Al -Awfi said: “We are pleased to celebrate the signing of the EBR project agreement (the third stage), which is a qualitative addition to the march of the Sultanate of Oman in the field of shift towards renewable energy. Identifying our commitment to achieving the targets of Oman Vision 2040 and reaching the zero neutrality by 2050. His Excellency added: “Investments estimated at about 115 million Omani riyals in this project reflect the confidence of partners and investors in the national investment environment, while the project contributes to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 505 thousand tons annually, in addition to raising the contribution of renewable energy by up to 4% of the total electricity production.”
Al -Awfi pointed out that the signing of this agreement represents a new achievement in the renewed energy process, in terms of its technical and economic dimensions, and it also holds an inspiring message that the Sultanate of Oman is steadfast steadily towards a sustainable future, based on diversifying energy sources, enhancing supplies security, supporting the competitiveness of the national economy, and consolidating its position as a pioneering regional center in the field of clean energy.
