Secretary -General: The darkest chapters of the Palestinian -Israeli conflict requires an immediate ceasefire

The Secretary -General spoke at a ministerial meeting held by the Security Council regarding the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestine issue, during the high -level week of the United Nations General Assembly.
Guterres said to the council: “Each member of the Security Council must fulfill the responsibilities on his shoulders. We should not leave this accurate opportunity to escape from our hands.”
The Secretary -General renewed his warning that the possibility of achieving a two -state solution is steadily fading and has now reached its lowest levels in decades. Among the manifestations of this is the continued expansion of settlements, the annexation of lands by reality, and forced displacement.
But he said that in the queen of this complete darkness yesterday, a glimmer of hope has emerged in the resumption of a high -level international conference on the implementation of a two -state solution.
In this regard, I commended France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their participation in chairing this important meeting and their contribution to stimulating political momentum. He welcomed the recognition of many other countries in the Palestinian state, including the two countries that are constantly organic in the Council, France and the United Kingdom.
The darkest chapters of the Israeli -Palestinian conflict
The Secretary -General said that today we are facing one of the darkest seasons of the Israeli -Palestinian conflict. After nearly two years, the horrific terrorist attacks committed by Hamas on October 7 and the devastating military attack that Israel launched, after which violence was worked out only in excess of parts of the occupied Palestinian land as a whole, with the serious dangers that threaten peace and security in the region and the world.
He pointed out that the sweeping Israeli military attack on Gaza City is already more intense of the catastrophic humanitarian crisis, saying that there is an countless number of Palestinian civilians and the remaining hostages trapped under the indisputable bombing operations and those deprived of food, water, electricity and medicine.“The famine has become a reality – as the population is hated to be constantly displaced and reserved.”
The Secretary -General said, “Even if we describe this situation as an unacceptable situation and cannot be defended morally or politically, we will not express a full expression that surrounds the horror of human suffering.”
He explained that he repeatedly made calls for the immediate and permanent endowment of fire; And immediate and unconditional release of all hostages; And make way for the delivery of humanitarian aid immediately, without conditions or obstacles.
Antonio Guterres warned that ignoring the United Nations resolutions continues, the provisions of international humanitarian law are violated, and the impunity prevails. Our collective credibility fades.
