More than 4 thousand participants in the Dubai International Self -Driving Conference

Dubai, September 24 / WAM / Permanent officials and speakers stressed on the sidelines of the fourth session of the Dubai World Self -Driving Conference, organized by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, the importance of building an integrated system that supports the future of smart transport and enhances the Dubai site as a leading global platform in this field.

Ahmed Bahwouzian, Executive Director of the Public Transportation Corporation, said in statements to the Emirates News Agency “WAM” that the fourth session of the conference, which is held every two years, witnessed a wide participation of sector leaders and decision makers in the field of smart movement from all over the world, amounting to more than 4 thousand participants, and witnessed the offer of more than 50 products of various products and technologies in the field of vehicles and self -driving means.

During the opening ceremony, the winners of the global challenge for self -driving mobility, which this year, titled “The Dubai International Self -Driving Conference”, was announced, the winners were honored with Carkdabi in the field of smart mobility, pointing out that the Emirate of Dubai will begin the implementation of the “Dubai Self -Driving District” project in the Dubai Festival City and Dubai Creek Harper on an area of ​​approximately 15 square kilometers, and will join Six different self -driving means with the Dubai Metro, which is the first self -driving way to move in the emirate, for the total number seven self -driving means operating in an interconnected manner to form a model for the future of mobility in the emirate.

He pointed out that during the challenge, about 9 alliances from different countries around the world participated, and they were nominated for the final roles by a specialized international jury that includes experts in the field of smart movement from multiple regions, where the qualifiers underwent the final tests in China, while the previous sessions were conducted in different locations around the world.

The organizers emphasized that the East Asia region is one of the most leading areas in developing self -driving transportation technologies, whether in taxis, buses or other means.

He noted that the Emirate of Dubai and the UAE holds an advanced position in the field of smart mobility, while continuing to benefit from global experiences, noting that conferences, exhibitions and workshops represent an opportunity to learn from international companies, keep pace with the latest means and technologies, and enhance Dubai’s self -driving strategy.

The Dubai Smart Transport Strategy aims to reach the percentage of trips that are accomplished through self -driving means of transportation to 25% by 2030, and 36% by 2040, with a continuous modernization of the strategy in line with the level of maturity and growth that these means reach globally.

For its part, Sol Rashidi, the first CEO of artificial intelligence in the world, revealed that “preliminary talks with the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, stressing that the first pilot project is expected to be launched next March.

She explained that cooperation aims to support more than 80 cases of use in study, ensuring the highest opportunities for success, expressing its confidence in the vision of Dubai and the government’s innovative steps in the field of artificial intelligence and smart mobility.
She pointed out that the process of developing artificial intelligence is radically different from its use as a tool, explaining that there is a difference between “the use of artificial intelligence” through applications and tools, and “building artificial intelligence systems” integrated, which is a more complex path that requires comprehensive transformational programs and restructuring in roles, jobs and work methods.

She added that statistics show that between 74% to 88% of artificial intelligence projects stop or fail at the level of proof of concept, due to the gap between high expectations and practical reality, stressing that artificial intelligence is not necessarily a solution to all challenges, and that some issues may be dealt with with decades -old technologies.
