Student statements reveal the “other face” of the world of electronic games

Students’ statements revealed another face of the world of electronic games and digital applications, which exceeds entertainment and communication, as they confirmed their exposure to dangerous situations, interspersed with attempts to lure through unknown links and invitations to open the camera.
The students said, during a lecture organized by the Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal, the Fujairah Branch, as part of the initiative “Together we start a safe year”, that the vigilance of their families and its early interaction was the decisive factor in overcoming the risks, which reflects the importance of family awareness and continuous control as a first defense line in the face of the accelerated digital risks.
A student narrated in the first stage that he received an unknown link while practicing an electronic game, so he opened it, to be surprised by an inappropriate clip, adding that the sender later tried to lure him to run the camera. But his father enters directly, and he was quick to close the chat feature.
The student said: “I informed my father about the topic, because I was afraid of this person who seemed older than me.”
Students stated that they were bullying during their practice of electronic games.
A student also confirmed that an unknown person tried to establish a friendship with him, but he was surprised by him asking him questions about his family members.
A student witnessed his colleagues smoking while playing an electronic game in a place, but he refused to share smoking, and informed his father, who notified the management of the place to protect the rest of the children from falling into the trap of this bad habit.
On the other hand, the legal advisor and lawyer Fatima Al Ali warned, during the lecture, against underestimating what students face via the Internet, stressing that “silence on blackmail exposes the victim to more risks, and gives the blackmail an opportunity to persist”, noting that “the Internet is a double -edged sword, it may open the doors of knowledge and knowledge, but at the same time it may take advantage of crimes such as stealing accounts, and blackmailing the victims, And publish porn clips. ”
I advised children in the electronic space, saying: “Do not click on any link that you receive through social media, even if you come from your father or your friend, before you make sure of them personally, because the hackers may take over the accounts and deceive you with a fake interface.”
She also stressed the need to avoid accepting gifts or free foods from strangers, noting that “some of these methods are used in the drug trade.”
Al -Ali highlighted the danger of bullying among the students, reviewing the case of an introverted student who was bullying because of her old bag and her academic delay, until she tried to commit suicide inside the school, and later found that she lost her mother and passed through difficult circumstances that she did not find someone to help her overcome her, warning: “The students should notice any colleague that passes through unusual circumstances and informs the teachers or the family to help her.”
She also warned that some students fall into the trap of what they describe as “simple dumps”, such as sending a friendly phone number for phone marketing, or redirecting inappropriate clips of “entertainment”.
She said that there are those who believe that these are transient actions, but they are legally classified as crimes that amount to “an inconvenience issue”, or “promoting pornographic content”, warning that “preserving a section contrary to laws on the phone is a crime punishable by law.”
For her part, lawyer Khadija Suhail stressed the importance of self -confidence and knowing the correct notification steps, whether in school or with the competent authorities, pointing to the necessity of the student’s awareness of the danger of publishing or sharing pictures of friends without permission, because it is a crime that may expose him to legal accountability.
The Executive Director of the Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal (Fujairah Branch), Fatima Al -Shara, said that the initiative “Together we start a safe year”, came from the association’s keenness to educate society, especially the student group, of the importance of cybersecurity, and introducing them to ways to protect their devices and information from the dangers of the Internet.
She stated that the initiative focused on the golden rules of cybersecurity, foremost of which is how to put strong passwords, and the mechanism of downloading applications with caution, as well as providing advice and warnings about the types of drugs that are widespread, and how to report them.
She pointed to the distribution of the child’s rescue line number to the students, and the presentation of awareness axes on the dangers of electronic bullying and ways to identify the attempts of deception, stressing that the interaction was large from students and families, pointing out that the initiative included since the beginning of the academic year more than 10 schools in the Masafi, Dibba and Fujairah areas, and targeted more than 500 students from different ages, starting from kindergarten to the secondary stages, with the distribution of Soupped gifts bearing awareness messages.
Lawyer Moza Masoud stressed that the main goal of launching the initiative is to address the digital challenges that threaten students, confronting the manifestations of bullying and electronic blackmail, and protecting children from the methods of deception spread over the Internet and smart applications.
Lawyer Sabiha Al -Saridi indicated that the initiative came in response to the growing cases related to juvenile crimes, especially those resulting from students’ ignorance of laws, or their considering some “normal” behaviors, while they are crimes in the eyes of the judiciary.
In turn, Khadija Suhail stressed that early legal education, and promoting awareness among the family and the student, represent the first line of defense against these risks, calling on parents to continue to dialogue with children and listen to them.
