Veterinarians: A proposal to establish an Arab council to be a unified platform for protecting livestock and public health

Dr. Magdy Hassan, General Captain of Veterinary Doctors in Egypt, President of the Arab Veterinary Doctors Union, offered a proposal to establish an Arab Veterinary Medicine Council, to be an inclusive entity for unions, colleges, associations and veterinary executive bodies in the Arab countries, indicating that this step will give the profession a greater regulatory force and facilitate the arrival of its decisions and recommendations to governments through the umbrella of the League of Arab States. During his speech at the first forum for Arab veterinarians and deans and officials of veterinary medicine in the Arab region, that the council was discussed in previous sessions, and that the approval required at this stage is only initial approval, in preparation for preparing detailed systems and procedures, and stressed that once the full project is formulated, it will be officially submitted to the League of Arab States to include within its competencies, which will give the decisions of Arab veterinarians power A greater impact compared to the existence of the union only. Approval of the use of the Department of Legal Affairs of the General Syndicate of Veterinary Doctors in Egypt as a legal advisor to the Arab Union, explaining that this administration will undertake the review of legal regulations and systems, and to provide consultations and legal support to the Union in Egypt or in any of the Arab member states. He has an official reference when presenting any projects or decisions to Arab governments or the League of Arab States. The captain of the veterinarians stressed that the proposal to establish the Arab Council for Veterinary Medicine, along with the use of Egyptian legal expertise, will represent a qualitative shift in the Arab veterinary trade union work, and establishes a coherent organizational and legal structure capable of supporting the profession and enhancing its presence within the official Arab frameworks.
