In identical messages to UN officials: Mansour stresses the importance of all efforts aimed at ending the occupation

The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Minister Riyad Mansour, today, Wednesday, sent three identical letters to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council for this month (the Russian Federation), and the President of the United Nations General Assembly, regarding the continuation of the genocidal war that Israel, the occupying power, has been waging over the past two years against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in complete disregard for all international demands and persistent international efforts to end War, ensuring the release of hostages and prisoners, stopping the forced displacement of the Palestinian people, in addition to ensuring their complete withdrawal from Gaza, enabling urgent humanitarian relief, including through United Nations agencies led by UNRWA without restrictions, and beginning recovery and reconstruction operations.

In this context, Mansour indicated that, since October 2023, nearly 68,000 have been martyred. Palestinians as a result of the Israeli military attacks and the imposition of conditions of famine, malnutrition and disease, most of them women and children, noting that the total number of victims in Gaza has risen to no less than 237,000 Palestinians, including martyrs, wounded and missing.

He also noted that the Israeli occupation forces continue to kidnap and arrest Palestinians, whose number to date has reached no less than 10,800 citizens in prisons.

Also, Mansour noted the heavy losses among workers in the humanitarian and medical fields, noting the martyrdom of more than 1,722 people working in these two fields, the majority of whom are Palestinians, including at least 370 UNRWA employees, in addition to the martyrdom of 270 Palestinian journalists in Gaza, as part of an open war waged by Israel against the truth, while it continues Preventing international media from entering the Gaza Strip, in addition to continuing to prevent peaceful initiatives to deliver aid to the besieged civilian population, pointing to Israel’s kidnapping of civilians in the “Global Resilience Fleet” and its mistreatment of them.

Mansour also pointed out that the civilian infrastructure in Gaza was subjected to almost complete destruction, as more than 90% of the infrastructure was destroyed. Homes, hospitals, schools, universities, mosques and churches, in addition to water, sanitation and electricity networks, agricultural lands, companies and everything that supports the necessities of life in the Strip.

In the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, Mansour indicated that during the same period, more than a thousand Palestinian citizens were martyred, and more than 40,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced as a result of Israel’s continued violent raids and illegal settlement activities without In conclusion, Mansour renewed his call to the international community, including the Security Council and the General Assembly, to take urgent action to save lives and prevent further disasters, noting the importance of all efforts aimed at ending the Israeli occupation, whether through the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee and the Hague groups. And Madrid, or the signatory states of the New York Declaration, or efforts aimed at accountability, including through an arms embargo, imposing sanctions, and seeking justice in the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court.

 

He stressed the need to put an end to human suffering, ensure the achievement of justice and the rights of the Palestinian people, and work hard to achieve lasting peace and security.
