Madbouly confirms Egypt’s support for launching joint electronic platforms to exchange information between African countries

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, spoke during a discussion session on trilateral free trade, freedom of movement of businessmen, and mutual recognition agreements to enhance trade in goods,” held on the sidelines of the twenty-fourth summit of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
At the beginning of his speech, the Prime Minister expressed his sincere appreciation to the COMESA General Secretariat for presenting the aforementioned reports, which include the tripartite free trade agreement, freedom of movement of investors and businessmen, and mutual recognition agreements to promote trade in goods, as important mechanisms; To enhance regional integration between the COMESA countries and the countries of the African continent within the framework of our ambitious vision 2063.
In this context, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly said: Egypt was one of the first countries to sign and ratify the tripartite free trade agreement between COMESA, SADC, and the East African Community, in awareness of what this agreement represents as a strategic platform for unifying markets. African countries, removing customs and non-tariff barriers, and strengthening regional value chains, and today we affirm Egypt’s full support for accelerating the completion of customs tariff schedules and rules of origin, ensuring that the agreement enters into effective force, and opening the way for a smoother movement of goods and services across our regions.
In the same context, the Prime Minister added: There is no doubt, The ease of movement of capital and investors between our countries is important in enhancing intra-trade and regional integration, stressing Egypt’s support for the initiatives and endeavors aimed at that, in addition to its support for launching joint electronic platforms to exchange information and investment opportunities between member states, which is consistent with the title of our summit today, which aims to deepen value chains by benefiting from digital transformation. Egypt also welcomes the steps that have been taken. In connection with mutual recognition agreements, which helps to overcome non-tariff challenges, and calls for the proposals contained in the reports to be studied extensively by specialized technical committees.
