Abu Dhabi Customs and"computer" The British cooperate to facilitate trade

London, October 11, 2017 – Abu Dhabi Customs and the British Competer Group signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at enhancing innovation in facilitating trade and supporting global competitiveness by employing modern technologies and future economic models, thus contributing to the development of an advanced trade environment that supports the sustainable growth of international trade.

His Excellency Ahmed Jassim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, and His Excellency Mansoor Belhoul Al Falasi, the UAE Ambassador to the United Kingdom, witnessed the signing ceremony of the memorandum of cooperation signed by His Excellency Rashid Lahej Al Mansouri, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, and Mr. Shankar Singham, CEO of Competer Group, during the activities of the Abu Dhabi Investment Forum in the British capital, London.

This cooperation comes within the framework of Abu Dhabi Customs’ efforts to establish an innovative, integrated and digitally enabled customs system that enhances the efficiency and reliability of commercial operations, through strategic partnerships with international institutions, the private sector and technology partners, which contributes to strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global center for trade and logistics services.

His Excellency Rashid Lahej Al Mansouri said that facilitating trade and promoting digital transformation is a fundamental pillar of the strategic vision of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and that cooperation with the private sector and international partners aims to exchange experiences and adopt global best practices to develop smarter, more efficient and competitive trade systems, which contributes to enhancing the reliability of supply chains and supports economic growth at the local and global levels.

For his part, Shanker Singham said that cooperation with Abu Dhabi Customs aims to explore innovative methods in facilitating trade and enhancing global competitiveness, noting that the effective partnership between the public and private sectors allows the design of next-generation commercial and regulatory models that contribute to opening new horizons for economic development and driving sustainable growth globally.
