Conclusion of the second edition of "Dubai Coffee Auction"

DUBAI, 21st JANUARY / WAM / The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, the leading international business district that drives the flow of global trade through Dubai, concluded the second edition of the “Dubai Coffee Auction”, where lots of specialty coffee achieved a total value of 70,000 US dollars.
The auction program brought together producers from 13 producing countries of origin, in the largest geographic scope ever recorded within a single coffee auction, including coffee types that were offered through the “Producer Discovery” initiative of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, which strengthens Dubai’s position as a leading global center for the specialty coffee trade.
The Dubai Coffee Auction, affiliated with the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, was held within the activities of the Dubai Coffee World 2026 exhibition, and witnessed wide international participation, which translated into a record 1,364 bids submitted by buyers from various global specialty coffee markets.
In a first for the global coffee market, the auction witnessed the first international sale of coffee coming from the continental United States, which established a new price standard for coffee from the American mainland, and at the same time confirmed the pivotal role of the platform in expanding the scope of producer discovery, and providing a transparent and regulated market that contributes to achieving reliable price discovery and enhancing direct access to markets.
The auctions also achieved outstanding price results across a number of well-established origin countries in the specialty coffee market, with one batch of Bolivian specialty coffee recording a price of US$386 per kilogram, the second highest price ever recorded for Bolivian coffee at auction, confirming the continued international demand for high-quality, traceable coffee when offered through transparent and competitive platforms.
Ahmed Hamza, Executive Director of the Dubai Multi Commodities Center Free Zone, said on this occasion that, with the total value of the global coffee market exceeding 130 billion US dollars, and with the continued growth of the share of specialty coffee in global consumption, access to reliable mechanisms for discovering prices is no longer an option, but rather an inevitable necessity to ensure the sustainability of this sector in the long term.
He added that the results of the Dubai Coffee Auction 2026, which witnessed the largest number of international countries of origin ever participating in a single auction, clearly highlight the depth of global demand for high-quality, traceable coffee, when producers are given direct access to international buyers.
He pointed out that through this platform, DMCC translates Dubai’s advanced infrastructure into transparent pricing, real competition, and tangible value for countries of origin, thus enhancing the emirate’s position as a leading global center for specialty coffee trade.
The “Dubai Coffee Auction” is part of a program that includes three auctions held throughout the days of the Dubai Coffee World 2026 exhibition. The program began on the first day with the “Dubai Coffee Equipment Auction”, which showcased exclusive, limited-edition equipment from exhibitors, while the second day hosted the “Microlot Auction”, which highlighted the finest types of specialty coffee from the most prominent traditional and emerging countries of origin. The program concluded its activities on the third day with the “Exhibitor Coffee Auction,” which allows participating roasters and producers to showcase their distinctive coffee to an international audience of buyers.
For his part, David Paparelli, CEO of M Cultivo, said that the results achieved through these auctions reflect the strength of the specialty coffee market, and confirm the pivotal role that auctions play in rewarding quality in countries of origin. The intensity of international competition, especially for coffee coming from Panama, also reflects the positive impact of transparent auction platforms in consolidating buyers’ confidence and achieving a fair and sustainable market value for producers.
The Dubai Coffee Auction is supported by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre’s “Coffee Centre”, which is an integrated, temperature-controlled facility, located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, and provides a comprehensive services system covering the various stages of the coffee value chain, including storage, processing, roasting, logistics and training.
Through this advanced infrastructure, the center works to connect producers from the most prominent coffee growing regions in Latin America, Africa and Asia to international markets, which contributes to enhancing trade efficiency and supports opportunities for sustainable and long-term access to global markets.
