Urgent.. President Sisi: Egypt intends to host an international conference for early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from President Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus.  

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the call dealt with the latest developments in the Middle East region, most notably the agreement reached in Sharm El-Sheikh regarding stopping the war in the Gaza Strip, where the Cypriot President expressed his country’s full welcome of this agreement, stressing Cyprus’ support for its implementation, and praising the vital role played by Egypt, and the personal efforts of Mr. President in facilitating reaching the agreement. To him.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman, explained that Mr. President reviewed with the Cypriot President the most prominent aspects and details of the agreement, stressing its importance in stopping the war, releasing hostages and detainees, securing the entry of humanitarian aid, and initiating the process of rebuilding the Strip. He also stressed the necessity of fully implementing the terms of the agreement, noting that Egypt has made continuous efforts over the past two years, in coordination with the State of Qatar and the United States of America, in order to end the war and alleviate the human suffering of the Palestinian people. In this context, Mr. President invited the Cypriot President to participate in the celebration that will be held in Egypt on the occasion of the conclusion of the agreement to stop the war in the Gaza Strip.

The official spokesman indicated that the President stressed the necessity of deploying international forces in the Gaza Strip, and the importance of giving international legitimacy to the agreement that was reached, through the Security Council. The two Presidents also stressed the need to immediately begin the process of rebuilding the Strip, as Mr. President indicated Egypt’s intention to host an international conference For early recovery and reconstruction, which was welcomed by the Cypriot President.

The official spokesman added that the call also addressed the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Cyprus, as the two presidents discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two friendly countries in the political, trade and investment fields.

The two presidents agreed to build on the results of the summit held between them in January 2026, in a way that contributes to expanding the horizons of cooperation in Tourism, construction, agriculture, and other areas of common interest. In the same context, the President of Cyprus affirmed his country’s continued support for Egypt’s positions within the European Union.
