ABU DHABI, 13th October, 2020 (WAM) – The Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi launched a group of innovative digital initiatives supported by artificial intelligence technologies, during its participation in the first day of the “GITEX Global 2025” exhibition.
His Excellency Dr. Arif Al Hammadi, Acting Director General of Strategic and Digital Affairs, explained that digital transformation today represents one of the main drivers for the development of the social sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, indicating that the department is working to harness modern technologies and artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency of social work and enhance its effectiveness.
He added, “The initiatives at the exhibition embody the department’s approach to harnessing artificial intelligence to support social development in Abu Dhabi, and to transform data into practical insights that contribute to developing more proactive and efficient policies. This step represents an extension of the department’s vision of building a cohesive and prosperous society that puts people at the center of development and takes advantage of technical capabilities to enhance the quality of life for all members of society.”
The department unveiled the Social Welfare Dashboard initiative, which aims to enhance the quality of life of the community by empowering decision makers to rely on data to proactively detect risks, by transforming complex data into actionable insights. The dashboard allows concerned parties to design targeted and local interventions that contribute to the revitalization of targeted areas and implement flexible policies that enhance the well-being of society.
The initiative is a pioneering step towards building an integrated knowledge system that contributes to directing social policies on scientific foundations and accurate data, thus enhancing the readiness of the social sector to keep pace with the comprehensive digital transformation that the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is witnessing.
The Department also launched the Family Support Insights Platform, a model supported by artificial intelligence techniques, which aims to identify the most needy families in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, by integrating government agencies’ data into a unified digital system. It contributes to enabling decision-makers to proactively intervene, address the root causes of social challenges, and accelerate recovery paths, by providing accurate data-based visualizations that contribute to designing customized solutions for each family.
