An earthquake hits northern Pakistan with a magnitude of 5.6

An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck the northern part of Pakistan today.

The National Seismological Center in Pakistan announced that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 120 kilometers in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan, and its tremors were felt in Pakistan by residents of the adjacent northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. For Afghanistan, the capital, Islamabad, and parts of the Punjab province.

There were no immediate reports of human or material losses, but the earthquake forced residents of the areas it struck to leave their homes.
