Urgent| Live broadcast… The opening session of the Senate, headed by the oldest member

The opening session of the Senate for the first regular session of the second legislative term began today, Saturday, with the reading of the President of the Republic’s decision to call the Senate to convene to open the first regular session of the Council in the second legislative term 2025 – 2030.

 

During the opening session, the constitutional oath will be administered and the council office, consisting of the President of the Senate and the two deputies, will be elected.

 

 

The members then began taking the constitutional oath; Marking the start of their parliamentary duties.

 

The constitutional oath states: “I swear by Almighty God to faithfully preserve the republican system, to respect the constitution and the law, to fully care for the interests of the people, and to preserve the independence of the nation and the unity and integrity of its lands.”

 

The Senate consists of 300 members, 200 of whom are elected, and 100 members are appointed by the Presidency of the Republic.

 

The opening session will be chaired by Representative Muhammad Abu Al-Ela, head of the Nasserite Party, and assisted by Representatives Muhammad Tariq Nusair and Ahmed Khaled, as they are the youngest members.
