"Union" The twentieth session of its annual forum is held

Abu Dhabi, October 21 / WAM / Today, Al-Ittihad newspaper organized the activities of the twentieth session of the “Annual Al-Ittihad Forum”, celebrating two decades since its first launch in 2006.
The forum, whose activities were held at the Mohammed bin Zayed University of Human Sciences in Abu Dhabi and was held on the occasion of the fifty-sixth anniversary of the publication of Al Ittihad newspaper, witnessed the presence and participation of experts, academics, high-level officials, and Emirati, Arab and foreign researchers, to discuss topics based on the pioneering role of the UAE in consolidating peace frameworks, promoting regional and international dialogue and cooperation, and providing humanitarian aid in crises.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, delivered a speech in which he said: “The UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, is moving with confident steps towards consolidating its position as a pivotal and pioneering country in achieving peace and stability in the world, thanks to its policies based on cooperation, openness and wisdom, and its keenness to build bridges of communication with all countries and peoples, in a way that contributes to “In consolidating comprehensive development and enhancing common human understanding.”
His Excellency added, “The policies of the UAE, whose foundations were laid by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, and continued with the vision of the wise leadership, are based on strategic constants and authentic principles that balance internal development and foreign policy, and rely on transparency, realism, and balanced diplomacy, in a way that enhances the UAE’s active role in supporting global stability and establishing a just international system that respects the laws.” and international conventions.”
His Excellency the Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence stressed that “the culture of tolerance in the UAE is an essential pillar of its leadership in peacemaking, as it contributes to building trust and positive dialogue between peoples, and consolidates the values of coexistence and human understanding, which is embodied in the Document on Human Fraternity, which was launched from Abu Dhabi in 2019, to present to the world a pioneering and dynamic model of cooperation and rapprochement.” Humanitarianism, based on respect for diversity and building a more peaceful and stable future.”
The forum’s activities included 3 main sessions, the first entitled “Peace is the focus of the UAE’s development policy”, the second entitled “The UAE…a pivotal role in peacemaking”, and the third entitled “The role of youth in spreading the culture of peace”, which included extensive dialogues between speakers and participants, enhancing the role of the forum as a space for launching and exchanging visions and ideas aimed at supporting peace and development paths at the regional levels. For his part, Rashid Al Qubaisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Media Company, said: “The organization of the twentieth session of the Annual Union Forum confirms the effective role of the national media as one of the most important pillars in consolidating the values of tolerance, understanding and dialogue, which are the values that have made the UAE a role model in spreading peace and contributing to stability regionally and internationally.”

The forum also embodies an extension of this message, as it brings together leaders, thinkers and decision-makers to discuss issues of peace and development, in a way that strengthens the country’s position as a global capital of understanding and coexistence. It contributes to achieving its vision towards a more prosperous future for humanity.”
Al Qubaisi also expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation for the continued support given by His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, to the initiatives of Abu Dhabi Media through his participation and valuable contributions that enhance the status of the Forum.

The UAE will always remain a force of peace and stability, planting goodness and spreading hope, and inspiring people with its development and humanitarian leadership.”
He expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, for his patronage and constant support for the forum, and for his inspiring speech about the UAE’s role in peacemaking. He also valued the participation of experts, thinkers and students who contribute to enriching the discussion and exchanging visions about peace as a universal human value that people need today more than ever before.
Dr. Khalifa Al Dhaheri, Director General of Mohammed bin Zayed University for the Humanities, participated in the forum, along with Dr. Mohammed Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director General of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy, who presented a paper entitled “The UAE Makes Peace,” while Sergey Baburin, Director General of the Center for Integration and Civilization Studies, former Deputy Speaker of the Duma, presented a paper on the role of the UAE in mediation and humanitarian efforts.
Under the title “Peace is the focus of the UAE’s development policy,” the first session discussed the UAE’s development initiatives in the spirit of peace, presented by Dr. Radwan Al-Sayed, Dean of Graduate Studies at the Mohammed bin Zayed University for the Humanities. In the same session, Dr. Al-Sayed Ould Abah, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Nouakchott, presented a paper entitled “Peace Values…A Strategic Bet.”
The Saudi writer and researcher Abdullah bin Bajad Al-Otaibi also presented a paper entitled (Civilization is Born from Peace). Dr. Issa Al-Amiri, the Kuwaiti writer and academic, participated in a paper entitled (Peace is the Future of the World).
The second session focused on the role of the UAE in making peace at the global level, and discussed three main titles. The first was titled “Emirati Mediations in the Horn of Africa,” presented by Slomo Gosho, a writer, journalist, and lecturer at the Faculty of Law at Addis Ababa University. The second was titled, “The Caucasus…the UAE is Present in Peace,” and was presented by Tatania Kokhareva, a Russian journalist and media personality. The third was titled, “Preventive Diplomacy.” For a Safe Future,” which was presented by Santanajuberto, writer and advisor to the former Brazilian president.
As for the third session, it included a panel discussion in which students from Mohammed bin Zayed University for the Humanities participated through dialogues about peace and development in the UAE, and the role of youth in spreading the “culture of peace.”
This year’s forum was of exceptional importance as it represented a milestone in its journey extending since 2006, as it constituted, over two decades, a prestigious forum that brought together an elite group of leaders, thinkers and decision-makers to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to peace, stability and development, emphasizing the pivotal role of the UAE in promoting dialogue and international cooperation and spreading the values of tolerance and preventive diplomacy.
Over the course of 19 previous sessions, the forum discussed various pivotal issues that included the Iranian nuclear project, Arab culture in the era of globalization, the UAE’s image in the media, human brotherhood, economic development, the knowledge economy, and climate action, all the way to issues of artificial intelligence and other vital topics, which embodies its position as a leading intellectual platform that keeps pace with global changes and reflects the UAE’s commitment to its international responsibilities in various issues.
