Opening new school centers to teach chess

Sharjah, October 22 / WAM / The Emirates Chess Federation announced the opening of new school centers for teaching chess in all the emirates of the country as part of a strategy to spread the game and expand the base of its practitioners.

The Union confirmed in a statement today that the large demand from students in public and private schools in all emirates of the country, for the training programs scheduled by teachers, embodies the strong desire to benefit from the project, and the tangible impact it represents in improving their skills and mental abilities.

He explained that the gradual implementation of the plan took place through various stages, the most prominent of which was the qualification of more than 500 male and female teachers nationwide, to help students learn the game, providing chess tools and designated tables, and then communicating with large sectors of schools and official bodies.

He revealed that the great passion of more than 8,000 students for the program, and the interest of schools, educational districts and clubs in the project, and cooperation in its implementation, confirms the growing keenness to achieve its goals, with the support and interest of the Ministry of Sports, and the responsible authorities, in addition to implementing courses to obtain international titles for chess teachers.

He noted that the activities will continue throughout Saturday and Sunday, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, educational bodies, and public and private schools, leading to holding competitions among students during the coming period, and applying the curriculum of the Education Committee of the International Chess Federation in training.
