Solidarity and Agriculture distributes high-yielding wheat seeds to small farmers in 16 governorates

The Ministries of Social Solidarity, Agriculture and Land Reclamation, the National Alliance for Civil Development Action, and the Coptic Evangelical Authority announced the launch of the “Plant the Fourth Season” initiative. To support and encourage the cultivation of the wheat crop for the agricultural season 2025/2026.

 

The initiative aims to enhance national food security by supporting small farmers in 16 governorates extending from Beheira in the north to Aswan in the south, targeting the cultivation of about 250 thousand acres of wheat, where the distribution of the crop’s seeds to beneficiaries in the governorates has begun. The initiative is implemented by the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services under the umbrella of the National Alliance for Private Development Action, and funded by the Ministry of Social Solidarity, and in close cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation and experts from the Agricultural Research Center and Egyptian agricultural colleges in implementing the support component. For his part, Alaa stressed Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, said that the “Plant” initiative It embodies an effective model of partnership between the government and civil society to support one of the most important strategic crops, pointing to the Ministry of Agriculture’s commitment to providing all its scientific and technical expertise, through the Agricultural Research Center and extension engineers, to ensure the application of the best agricultural practices and the use of appropriate seeds for each region, which directly contributes to increasing productivity and achieving the state’s goals of self-sufficiency in agricultural crops.  The minister added that this cooperation ensures that technical support and high-quality seeds reach small farmers in all the targeted governorates, in coordination with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the National Alliance for Private Developmental Action, and the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Services.
