"Abu Dhabi Racecourse" It hosts 16 horse races in its new season

ABU DHABI, 23 October / WAM / Abu Dhabi Racecourse has completed its preparations for the 2025-2026 season, during which it will host 16 horse races, led by the His Highness the President’s Cup for purebred Arabian horses, and the “Abu Dhabi Gold Cup”, for purebred hybrid horses on the grass track.
The track confirmed in a statement today that the scheduled events witness a large participation of local and international horses from the purebred Arabian and purebred hybrid categories, which reflects the great interest in equestrian sports in the Emirates and its high heritage status, with prizes for the races amounting to 20 million dirhams.
He explained that the season’s program witnesses races for all categories and ages, for novice and local production horses, and par, classic and classified races, and includes the largest number of purebred Arabian horse races in the general program of the season, in addition to holding some races during the month of Ramadan.
He pointed out that the season will open the day after tomorrow, Saturday, with an evening consisting of 7 races, including 5 for purebred Arabian horses and 2 for purebred hybrids, starting with the Al Wathba preparatory speed race designated for Arabian horses aged 4 years and above for a distance of 1,200 metres, while next November 14 will witness the preparatory race for the Cup of His Highness the President of the State for purebred Arabian horses “Qawaem.”
He noted that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup competitions will be held for the Union Day for the third category on November 22, with prizes of 500 thousand dirhams, in addition to the activities on December 6, led by the His Highness the President of the State Cup race for Arabian horses for the first category, with prizes amounting to 8 million dirhams.
He pointed out the holding of the Al Wathba Speed Race, for the third category, with prizes of 400,000 dirhams, the “Emirates Breeders’ Cup” with prizes of 500,000 dirhams, and the Abu Dhabi Derby, with prizes of 400,000 dirhams, all for purebred Arabian horses, in addition to the His Highness the President’s Cup for purebred hybrid horses, with a total of prizes amounting to 10.8 million dirhams.
He stated that among the scheduled events is the “Abu Dhabi Gold Cup” race, for purebred crossbred horses (lists) for a distance of 1,600 metres, on February 7, 2026, for the first time, and its prizes are one million US dollars, as it is considered one of the most valuable races for purebred crossbred horses in the world, in addition to the Liwa Oasis race (second category), the first round of the Arab Triple Crown (lists), and the Al Anoud Classic race (first category) for horses. Authentic Arabic, with a total of prizes exceeding 5 million dirhams.
He revealed a number of major racing evenings, most notably the Abu Dhabi Classic race for fillies, and the other dedicated to foals from local production horses on February 21, 2026, in addition to another event on March 14 on the grass track, with the holding of the UAE Championship race for the first category, with a prize of one million dirhams, in addition to the first Emirates Classic race for fillies, and the second for foals of local production, all of which are for purebred Arabian horses.
The track will continue to host competitions on April 4, 2026, with the holding of the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club Golden Cup for purebred Arabian horses of local production, with a prize of 125,000 dirhams, while the season concludes on April 11, 2026, with the third round of the Arab Triple Crown for the third category, with a prize of 300,000 dirhams.
Engineer Ali Al Shaibah, General Manager of the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club and Abu Dhabi Racecourse, said that the club is facing another exceptional season of racing, noting that it features world-class facilities and a grass track with the highest standards of organization and safety for riders and horses alike.
He pointed out that the new season program combines competitive, heritage and community races, providing a unique experience for all participants, families and racing enthusiasts.
