Hong Kong students discover the architecture and traditional professions of Khor Fakkan

Sharjah, October 23 / WAM / A delegation of students on scholarship from the University of Hong Kong learned about the authentic Emirati heritage and Sharjah’s experiences in preserving it, during an educational cultural visit organized by the Sharjah Heritage Institute – Khor Fakkan Branch, in cooperation with the University of Sharjah.
The visit included a field trip to the traditional village of Shis and the old area in Khor Fakkan, where the students learned about the traditional architectural style and ways of living in mountainous environments, and discovered aspects of harmony between man and nature in ancient times.
The delegation also visited the Museum of Traditional Crafts in Khor Fakkan, and learned about handicraft tools and production methods, exploring the professions that formed an important part of the intangible heritage of the local community.
At the conclusion of the tour, the students expressed their admiration for the cultural diversity and heritage richness of the Emirate of Sharjah, appreciating the pioneering role of the Sharjah Heritage Institute in transmitting heritage to new generations in an interactive manner that enhances understanding between cultures.
