The Egyptian ambassador to Baghdad expresses Cairo’s appreciation to the Arab countries for their support of Khaled Al-Anani in the UNESCO elections

Ambassador Ahmed Samir, the Egyptian ambassador to Baghdad, while hosting the ambassadors of the Arab Group in Iraq, expressed his thanks and Egypt’s appreciation to all the Arab countries that supported Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, the Egyptian candidate for the position of Director-General of UNESCO, as he is the first Arab and Muslim Director-General of this important organization.
Ambassador Ahmed Samir stressed that the success of the Egyptian candidate is not considered a victory for Egyptian diplomacy only, But for all Arab countries.
For their part, the Arab ambassadors praised the competence of Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, expressing their aspiration that his future vision will enhance the effectiveness and independence of UNESCO.
They also renewed their full support for the tireless Egyptian efforts aimed at maintaining the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Gaza, ensuring the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip, and beginning the reconstruction process.
