Today.. the Sheikh of Al-Azhar visits Italy to participate in the global conference “Finding the Courage to Strive for Peace”
The Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, heads today, Saturday, to the Italian capital, Rome, on an official visit to participate in the work of the global conference organized by the Sant’Egidio organization under the title “Finding the Courage to Strive for Peace.” This is in the presence of a number of leaders and decision-makers, led by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, Pope of the Catholic Church, and the Italian President. Sergio Mattarella and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, along with an elite group of religious figures and thinkers from around the world.
The Grand Imam is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the opening session of the conference, in which he stresses the importance of achieving peace based on justice, and the moral and humanitarian responsibility of religious leaders to work to end conflicts. And wars and conflicts.
The Grand Imam will also meet with Pope Leo Of crises, wars and conflicts, most notably the aggression against Gaza and the West Bank, and emphasizing the importance of adhering to the peace agreement hosted by the city of Sharm El-Sheikh as an essential step towards establishing security and stability in the region and the world.
