المملكة: “Environment” in Al-Ardiyat plants 300 seedlings and supports the farmers of Wadi Qanouna on the ground

Al-Ardiyat, two simultaneous initiatives to enhance vegetation cover and support food security, the first was the planting of public facilities by planting 300 seedlings, and the second was a field tour to support the farmers of Wadi Qanuna, as part of efforts to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative.
It included The environmental initiative, which was implemented in cooperation with the National Center for Vegetation Development, health and educational entities, and the private sector, planted 300 seedlings of local trees suitable for the region’s environment.
The planting work was distributed by 100 seedlings in Nimra General Hospital, and 200 seedlings in the Abdul Rahman bin Awf Educational Complex, with the aim of combating desertification and improving the quality of life.
With regard to supporting farmers, the director of the Ministry’s office in Al-Ardiyat, Ahmed Al-Faqih, led a field tour of the farms of Wadi Qanouna, which is considered one of the most prominent sources of local crops.
The tour aimed to see directly the progress of Agricultural work, following up on production, and monitoring farmers’ needs to raise their production efficiency.
During the tour, a number of model farms were visited, where technical and guidance directions were provided to enhance the application of sustainable agricultural practices.
Al-Faqih explained that these field efforts fall within the ministry’s directions to develop vegetation and ensure sustainability. Environmental resources, pointing to the importance of integration between the governmental, educational, health, and private sectors to spread the culture of afforestation and sustainable production.
For his part, the Director General of the Ministry’s branch in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region, Engineer Walid Al-Dughays, stressed the branch’s support for such field initiatives, because of their role in enhancing environmental awareness, raising the efficiency of farmers, and enabling the agricultural sector to perform its role.
