"Economy and tourism ": " Sustainability Innovation Park " Enhances the UAE’s leadership in the areas of green economy

Dubai, October 29 / WAM / The Ministry of Economy and Tourism confirmed that the “Sustainability Innovation Complex” will contribute to supporting the sustainable tourism and green entrepreneurship sectors in Expo City Dubai, noting its intention to establish a green intellectual property office to support innovators and promote sustainable practices, in addition to launching the first “green license” of its kind in the country to attract companies committed to environmental and social sustainability.
Her Excellency Dr. Maria Hanif Al Qassim, Assistant Undersecretary for the Policy and Economic Studies Sector, said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the 2025 Asia-Pacific Cities Summit for Mayors, which concludes today in Expo City Dubai, that the complex constitutes a national platform that combines economic prosperity and environmental responsibility, and contributes to developing qualitative solutions in the fields of clean energy and circular innovation, and consolidating the UAE’s position as a global center for a green and sustainable economy.
She added that the complex supports the country’s trends in diversifying the economy and climate action, by creating an integrated ecosystem that provides markets with innovative green products and services, and helps disseminate low-carbon technologies by supporting innovation, research and development, and encouraging green entrepreneurship, which contributes to reducing the carbon footprint and achieving environmentally friendly economic growth.
She explained that Intesa San Paolo Bank will support the establishment of the complex in Expo City Dubai after investing more than 14 billion euros globally in sustainability projects, while Nestlé will contribute to transferring knowledge and technical expertise, and Majra will direct innovative environmental projects through initiatives such as the “Sustainable Impact Challenge” and “Future 100,” in addition to “Palm Med,” which turns palm fronds into biodegradable products.
Dr. Maria Al Qassim said that the “Sustainability Innovation Complex” reflects the UAE’s commitment to climate action, and represents a national model for sustainable innovation and responsible investment, supporting the transition towards a more sustainable and globally competitive national economy.
