An international condemnation of the liquidation of 460 patients at the Saudi Maternity Hospital in El Fasher
World Health The attack on the Saudi maternity hospital in the city of Al-FasherNorth Darfur, after a series of attacks that targeted the medical facility and the kidnapping of a number of health workers.
The Director-General of the organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom, expressed his deep shock at the killing of (460) patients and companions in the hospital.
Humanitarian crimes
He pointed out that the organization had documented a total of (185) attacks on health facilities since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan in April. 2023, resulting in the death of (1,204) people and the injury of (416) others, adding that (49) of those attacks occurred during the current year alone, and led to the death of (966) people.
Adhanom called for an immediate and unconditional cessation of all attacks on health care, stressing that patients, health workers, and medical facilities enjoy special protection under international humanitarian law.
