Ahmed Megahed: The opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum is an unprecedented event… and Egypt deserves to be happy

Dr. Ahmed Megahed, Executive Director of the Cairo International Book Fair, confirmed that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum represents a landmark historical moment in the path of modern Egyptian civilization, pointing out that Egypt, which possesses the greatest and richest antiquities in the world, is today regaining its rightful place on the map of tourism and global culture, through this unique edifice that reflects its true face to the world.
Mugahed said – in a statement, today, Thursday – that the opening day of the Grand Egyptian Museum will be a day It will remain immortal in the memory of Egyptians and all of humanity, as it will witness the display of the entire collection of King Tutankhamun’s antiquities for the first time, which makes this event one of the greatest achievements of the century in the field of culture and human heritage.
He added that the opening of the museum is not only a cultural achievement, but rather carries major cultural, political and economic dimensions, restoring to Egypt its leadership and its historical role in shaping human awareness, stressing that this project is the second most important event in Egypt’s modern history after the dual navigation. He explained that the Cairo International Book Fair, in its fifty-seventh session, will celebrate this great event in a manner befitting the greatness of Egypt, through a group of special events and activities, most notably a number of distinguished seminars prepared by Dr. Mamdouh El-Damaty, former Minister of Antiquities and member of the Supreme Advisory Committee for the Fair, which will address various aspects of the Grand Museum Project and its cultural implications.
