Assistant Foreign Minister visits Muscat to discuss the situation of the Egyptian community

 The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad, Ambassador Haddad Al-Gohary, made a visit to Muscat. Where he met with a number of officials specialized in the affairs of the Egyptian community in the Sultanate. Among them is the Director of the Consular Department at the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

They discussed the most important challenges facing the members of the Egyptian community in the Sultanate and considered ways to solve them, and agreed on a mechanism to notify the Egyptian Embassy in Muscat of cases of detention of Egyptian citizens in connection with cases or violations.

 

The Assistant Foreign Minister, accompanied by Ambassador Yasser Shaaban, the Egyptian Ambassador to Oman, also met with the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Customs and Operations. In the Sultanate; To discuss issues related to settling the cases of residency violators, for those wishing to leave permanently, as the Omani side agreed to extend the deadline for settling the status of residency violators from the Egyptian community until the end of December of this year without paying the prescribed financial fines.

 

The Assistant Minister also met with a number of members of the Egyptian community; He expressed his appreciation for their role and contribution to the development of Omani society over the past decades, and many of the concerns of members of the community were discussed and responded to, with an emphasis on the embassy’s interest in improving the level of consular services and enhancing communication with members of the community in the Sultanate.
