The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities confirms that what is being circulated on some social media sites and electronic news sites regarding the management of the Grand Egyptian Museum leaving torn plastic covers left on the ground around the wall surrounding the museum is incorrect.

The Ministry clarifies that what appeared in the circulating photos and video relates to temporary plastic covers that had been placed by the company organizing the official opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum over temporary wooden barriers that it had built during preparations for the celebration, in order to protect the surrounding area and preserve the general appearance during the preparations. The company has already begun removing these covers and barriers since yesterday afternoon, and the removal is being completed gradually according to an organized plan.
