Jeddah Federation deepens Sharjah’s wounds with a new Asian loss

Sharjah suffered a new loss with its Serbian coach, Milos Milojevic, in the “Elite” AFC Champions League, after losing to the Saudi Jeddah Ittihad with three unanswered goals, today, Tuesday.
The first goal was scored by Dutchman Steven Bergwijn (8), then Frenchman Karim Benzema added the second goal (66), and Roger Fernandez scored (90 + 4).
This loss deepened the wounds of Sharjah, which took a big step towards competing for one of the tickets to advance to the second round, after its score froze at four points to occupy eighth place in the general standings.
The beginning was shocking for Sharjah, which received an early goal due to a mistake committed by defender Khaled Al-Dhanhani, who was slow in clearing Muhannad Al-Shanqeeti’s cross, so that Steven Bergwijn headed it into the goal.
Caio Lox could have equalized immediately afterward from alone on goal, but he put the ball next to the post.
Sharjah continued its efforts to equalize, as a ball rebounded from the goalkeeper to the left-back Peru, who shot it at the goalkeeper again.
Karim Benzema ended the UAE team’s hopes of returning to the match, after scoring another goal after a perfect cross from Moussi Diaby, which he did not have the slightest difficulty in putting into the net, before Roger Fernandez sealed a well-deserved victory for Al-Ittihad Jeddah in stoppage time.
