The National Council for Human Rights maintains its global classification at level (A)

The Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights recommended that the National Council for Human Rights in Egypt be maintained at the “A” level, after it had recommended, in October 2024, that the classification be reduced to the “B” level.
The coalition was based on the efforts made by the Egyptian state to amend the law of the National Council for Human Rights and provide independence in its work, and the steps taken recently to promote human rights in Egypt, which the Council’s representative reviewed in his report to the Global Alliance.
Egypt had It has taken a number of important measures to support human rights, including the response to the draft law on criminal procedures to increase the guarantees established to protect these rights, as well as the establishment of correctional and rehabilitation centers at a decent humane level comparable to the best places of detention in the world, and the submission of a draft law to ensure greater independence of the National Council for Human Rights, as well as the intervention of the National Council to help in the release of a number of those sentenced for humanitarian reasons.
