Undersecretary of the Al-Azhar Institutes Sector: The diversity of jurisprudential schools of thought is a source of wealth and not a path to division or divergence

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sharqawi, Undersecretary of the Al-Azhar Institutes Sector, said that the diversity of jurisprudential schools of thought and intellectual and scientific schools is a source of wealth and development, and has never been a means of division or a cause of separation. This is due to the wise nation’s realization that difference is relief and mercy, and that constructive diversity is growth and breadth.

His Eminence added during his speech at the joint international symposium between Al-Azhar and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Saudi Arabia entitled “Pioneer experiences and future prospects in promoting average values of moderation.” The current facts of the era and its current events may sometimes cause this intellectual wealth and scientific production to be transformed into sectarian rivalry and intellectual and philosophical contradictions, which attempt to undermine the principles of true moderation and the rules of moderation that are respected in the world of the noble Sharia, to create from the circle of differences in the branches a reason for conflict in the principles. Thus, some aspects of tolerance disappeared, goals for the greater purpose of the Sharia disappeared, and tendencies emerged in the societal and religious arenas. narrow, making each party claim that it possesses the absolute truth.

He explained that as a result, intellectual battles erupted that somewhat exhausted the nation and diverted its energy from its great civilizational mission, and some people turned away from justice, and here lies the grave danger and great challenge facing Islamic moderation, contradicting its main rules, and opposing its lofty goals, as the voice of the call for cooperation and harmony has become a faint voice in the crowd of loud voices. The Undersecretary of the Al-Azhar Institutes Sector stressed that defending moderation is defending the unity of the nation itself. However, the future heralds a new awareness that has begun to grow among the nation’s youth, and realizes that peace and peace are not achieved through rivalry, but rather through acquaintance, harmony, cooperation, and dialogue, and that diversity is not the opposite of unity, but rather the maturity of a nation and the enrichment of testimony, in implementation of the Almighty’s saying, " And thus We have made you a moderate nation that you may be witnesses over the people and that the Messenger may be a witness over you."

And he continued" Al-Sharqawi " Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stand together to promote the values of moderation, moderation, and unification of the word in order to preserve minds from defect and protect ideas from error. We see before us promising prospects for an intellectual renaissance that restores the true religion’s bright face, its pure splendor, and its sweet source, preserving its purity and sustaining its giving, extending its universal moderation, elevating the word of truth, and spreading the values of justice. And mercy.

His Eminence explained that the difference in viewpoints or the difference in working mechanisms does not spoil the cause of universal moderation and does not cut off compassion for human brotherhood, but rather cooperation in order to uphold the values of truth and justice and establish the concepts of true moderation is what suits the law of relief and mercy.

He explained that our nation has witnessed throughout its ages groups who thought that preserving religion could only be achieved by restricting people, Jealousy for him means closing the doors of diligence and mercy, so they missed the fact that the law of Islam came in order to take care of the interests of the people and rebuild the country. It is all justice and mercy, and is based on governance and interests, and its greatest goal is facilitation, not difficulty.

He explained that as awareness is renewed that moderation is not a departure from religion, but rather a return to the purity of its spirit and purity of its source, the future holds hope for restoring this rational understanding, and accordingly, scientific institutions, and in Its introduction is Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Islamic Affairs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which leads a balanced project that restores moderation and balance to the mind, and to texts their flexibility, in a rational interaction between the constant and the variable.

He stressed that moderation and moderation are the roots of all progress and progress, and the sources of all happiness and contentment, and that extremism and extremism are the sources of every grief, delusion, ignorance, poverty, and suffering, and the sources of every resentment, injustice, and misery, clarifying that moderation in this context is not Leniency and not dilution, but rather it is a precise jurisprudence that realizes that stagnation is a betrayal of the spirit of Sharia, and that observing the objectives is not an intellectual luxury, but rather it is the essence of religion. Imam Al-Qarafi says: " The stagnation in quotations is always a kind of misguidance in religion and ignorance of the purposes of past Muslim scholars and predecessors.”

The Undersecretary of the Al-Azhar Institutes Sector stressed that the bright future depends on our ability to produce a generation of scholars that combines authenticity and modernity, the depth of heritage and the jurisprudence of reality, and a generation that restores to Islam its original purity as a message of justice, mercy and wisdom that guides man to a balance between reason and conscience, and the text And his spirit.

He explained that freedom, in its essence, is a divine blessing that elevates human dignity and gives him the ability to choose. In some modern cultures, it has turned into a slogan used to justify rebellion against every religious authority, even against the Creator. Contemporary atheism is no longer merely a philosophical denial of the existence of God, as it was in the era of the materialists. Rather, it has become a cultural and media phenomenon hidden behind bright slogans such as “human liberation.” And “releasing the mind,” so religion is presented as if it were a restriction on creativity, and faith is portrayed as an opponent of progress.

He added that amidst this sweeping trend, Islamic moderation is subjected to a double attack from extremists who restrict the mind in the name of religion, and from non-religious people who have excluded religion in the name of freedom, and both parties empty religion of its essence and meaning, and destroy the balance brought by true Islam.

He stressed that moderation is what It preserves its place for the mind without canceling the role of revelation, and combines the light of proof and the purity of faith, and the implementation of the thought and the submission of the heart. It believes that freedom is not freedom from every restriction, but rather liberation from the slavery of passion, lust and interest, and that the mind, if it is stripped of divine guidance, goes astray, just as faith, if it is cut off from the light of the mind, freezes.

And he continued " Al-Sharqawi " Today, as we see Muslim youth in a struggle between dry materialism and absent spirituality, the responsibility of religious and intellectual institutions is highlighted in building a new discourse that combines the language of science and the language of the soul, the logic of philosophy and the warmth of the faith experience. This is in its context, which is considered for it in law and reality, to be a path to knowing God Almighty, and reconstructing His Earth, extending His justice in His universe, and conveying His goodness to His creation.

I stress that adhering to what Al-Azhar Al-Sharif is based on regarding the clarification of science, religion, and morals is a type of the main legal and practical measures, which definitely contribute to protecting the general human system, so how in these current circumstances we are in need of clarifying the heritage. He explained that we need a moderation that extends from the Two Holy Mosques to the expanses of Al-Azhar, a moderation that builds minds on the method and not on the position, educates hearts on mercy not on harshness, and teaches people that diversity does not spoil unity, and that differences of opinion do not cancel brotherhood. Faith.

The Undersecretary of the Al-Azhar Institutes Sector concluded his speech by saying that the future that we await is not theoretical, but rather a practical project in which scientific, intellectual, media and educational institutions participate, to rebuild the Muslim human being capable of understanding, criticizing and distinguishing between the poor and the precious, and this will not come unless we make moderation a way of life, moderation a vision of the world, and great Islamic values a starting point for renewal and reform.
