Cairo Governor: Developing historic Cairo is a national project to restore its tourist and cultural status

The Governor of Cairo, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, today, Friday, inspected the ongoing work in the project to develop the Historic Cairo District, to which the state pays special attention to restoring the historical and tourist status of the old capital, as part of efforts to preserve the heritage and revive the unique architectural identity of the region, accompanied by Major General Ibrahim Abdel Hadi, Deputy Governor for the Western Region, and a number of governorate leaders, as the tour included the areas of Bab al-Nasr, Al-Gamaleya, and Al-Hakim Mosque.
The Governor of Cairo confirmed – According to today’s statement – all obstacles are being overcome to ensure the speedy completion of the project and raise its implementation rates as it is one of the major national projects, noting that the development work is integrated with a plan to maintain and raise the efficiency of internal roads to preserve the urban and heritage character of the region.
He explained that the general vision of the project aims to preserve Cairo’s heritage and create new tourist and cultural destinations that will restore the capital’s luster and status as a capital of tourism, arts and culture, confirming the presence of a consulting team specialized in the history of the region.
