المملكة: In a rare specialty… launching the first association specialized in advanced wound care


The Saudi Society for Advanced Care was officially launched with Health careprovided to patients and facilitating their access to the required services in a specialty that is considered one of the rare fields.

The President of the Saudi Society for Advanced Wound Care, Abdul Aziz Kanaan, announced the official establishment of the association to be the first national reference in this delicate and vital specialized field, with the aim of raising the level of health care provided to patients and facilitating their access to the required services.

Kanaan explained that the idea of the association emerged from a real need for a specialized umbrella, and it was established on his initiative with A team of founders, including: Issa Abbas, Dr. Ahmed Al-Toub, Bakriya Al-Rashidi, and Dr. Fahd Al-Anazi, Dr. Abdullah Al-Qahtani, Areej Zaman, Abeer Al-Anazi, and Dr. Abdullah Al-Harbi, Hawraa Al-Qassab, and Dr. Fahd Al-Shubaili, Iman Al-Makauni, Al-Anoud Al-Abd Al-Hay, and Amal Al-Yami.

Advanced Care

He stressed that what distinguishes the association is its complete focus on advanced wound care as a rare specialty, and its combination of evidence-based science, practical experience, and volunteer work, with a thoughtful plan that ensures closeness to the patient, the health practitioner, and the community.

With regard to the geographical scope, Kanaan indicated that the association serves all parts of the Kingdom to ensure that the community receives the correct care. At the appropriate time and place, it is currently working on building an integrated business model to cover all regions and governorates within future expansion plans.

Since the association is still in the establishment stage, Kanaan stated that the current focus is on raising the level of awareness among all segments of society, and preparing training and awareness programs for health practitioners, while preparing to launch the first initiatives soon, through educational programs, interactive workshops, and community campaigns.

Regarding the operational plans, the CEO revealed the work on establishing teams. Specialized field work in coordination with health authorities, in parallel with the development of a digital platform to connect patients with specialists and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and access to service.

Kanaan stressed that scientific research represents one of the basic pillars, as the association seeks to establish partnerships with universities and research centers to develop innovative solutions.

He added that these goals are directly aligned with the axis of improving the quality of life and health services in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, by reducing complications and raising patient satisfaction.

He pointed out that The association works with the support of the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development and under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, stressing that financial sustainability will depend on partnerships, community support, and volunteerism, which he described as “the beating heart of the association,” calling on everyone to be partners in this mission to enhance health and quality of life in the Kingdom.
