“The Blue Path” opens the 46th session of the Cairo International Film Festival

The Cairo International Film Festival announced the selection of the feature film “The Blue Path” The Blue Trail – O Último Azul will be the opening film of the forty-sixth session, which will be held from November 12 to 21, 2025. The film will be shown outside the official competition.

The film, by Brazilian director Gabriel Mascaro, conveys the story of 77-year-old Teresa, who lives in a small industrial town in the Amazon, until she receives an official decision to move to a residential colony designated for the elderly. In this isolated place, the elderly are taken to spend their final years while the younger generation devotes their lives to productivity and growth. Teresa rejects that fate and sets off on a journey across the Amazon River to fulfill one last wish before her freedom is taken away, a decision that will change her life forever.

The film is reported to be a co-production from Brazil, Mexico, Chile and the Netherlands, starring Denise Weinberg, Rodrigo Santoro, Miriam Sokoras and Adanello.
