The Armed Forces Medicine research team wins the gold medal in the International Engineering Competition in France

As a culmination of the full support that the Armed Forces gives to its students from military colleges to prepare and qualify them with all modern specialized sciences, the scientific research team of the Armed Forces College of Medicine won the gold medal and was nominated among the best teams in achieving the goals of sustainable development in the international competition for genetic engineering (IGEM) whose activities were held in the French capital, Paris, with the participation of more than 5,000 students representing 415 research teams from more than 50 countries around the world, in which the participating teams compete to use the latest genetic engineering techniques to find innovative scientific solutions to the problems facing our contemporary world in various fields.
The stages of preparation for the competition included training students on how to exploit genetic engineering to implement the proposed scientific plan. The scientific research team at the Armed Forces College of Medicine chose an important problem affecting patients with chronic asthma, which leads to serious complications that threaten the lives of patients. Through the results of the research, the team succeeded in proving theoretically and laboratoryly the efficiency of a genetically modified type of bacteria that the patient can take through a spray that is used once a year, based on the results of laboratory simulations. The suitability and realism of the idea was presented. Scientific And the possibility of its application , amid widespread praise from the referees for the importance of the research project, which may represent a step on the way Discovering a treatment that contributes to getting rid of a disease that millions of people suffer from.
This achievement reflects the thoughtful vision pursued by the Armed Forces to place scientific and research fields at the top of its priorities, which contributes to preparing new generations capable of keeping pace with the latest developments in all branches of science and knowledge, so that the nation’s flag remains flying high in all global forums, with the efforts and hands of its loyal sons.
