Sharjah launches a project "From page to screen" To transform Arabic literature into television and cinematic drama

Sharjah, November 10 / WAM / The Sharjah Literary Agency signed a cooperation agreement with Cedars Art Production Company (Sabah Brothers) to launch the project “From Page to Screen” under the auspices of the Sharjah Book Authority.
The project aims to transform Arabic literary works into professional dramatic works that reflect the richness of the Arabic narrative and present it to a wider audience across the small and large screen, in an exceptional step that enhances the integration between the publishing industry and dramatic production in the Arab world.
The agreement was signed by Tamer Saeed, Director of the Sharjah Literary Agency, Producer Lama Sadiq Sabah, Representative of Sabah Brothers Company, and Khawla Al-Majini, Director of Events and Marketing Department at the Sharjah Book Authority, during the activities of the Sharjah International Book Fair 2025.
The project comes within the framework of Sharjah’s vision aimed at expanding the impact of Arabic literature and enhancing the presence of Arab creators by building new bridges between word and image and establishing a professional platform that allows writers, publishers and producers to cooperate in developing original visual content derived from literary texts.
The Sharjah Literary Agency is responsible for managing the professional and legal aspect of the project by nominating five literary works in the first stage, providing the production company with texts and summaries, and formulating legal frameworks regulating the relationship between writers and producers, in addition to supervising the training program and selecting its participants.
Cedars Art Production Company (Sabah Brothers) is responsible for the creative and productive side of the project by studying the transferability of the proposed works, providing professional writers and directors to develop texts, participating in training workshops with its experts, in addition to providing artistic and technical consultations and media promotion of the selected works in their subsequent stages.
While the Sharjah Book Authority is responsible for the general institutional supervision of the project, providing media and logistical support for its activities, hosting events and workshops within the Authority’s official agenda, in addition to nominating a group of winning or nominated literary works for its awards to be on the selected list for transfer.
Tamer Saeed explained that the project is a practical translation of Sharjah’s vision of transforming literature into multimedia creative energy, noting that the agency will manage the rights of the selected works and supervise the training program for writers and talents to ensure the transformation of literary texts into dramatic projects that preserve the spirit of the original work and present it to international standards.
Khawla Al-Mujaini stressed that “the launch of the (From Page to Screen) project embodies Sharjah’s vision of investing in the creative economy and expanding the paths for Arabic literature to reach new, more influential and widespread media. Through the integration of roles between the Sharjah Book Authority, the Sharjah Literary Agency, and (Sabah Brothers) Company, we present Sharjah with an Arab model of a cultural system capable of producing diverse and sustainable content that confirms Sharjah’s leadership in expanding the concept of the book industry to include cinema and visual arts, in a way that enhances the presence of the Arab creator in the cultural and media scene.” International.
For her part, Lama Sabah expressed Sabah Brothers’ pride in this partnership, which represents a model for the integration of Arab experiences in the fields of literature and drama, stressing that the project opens the door to producing works that carry the human and aesthetic dimension of Arabic literature and present it in a world-class visual language.
“From Page to Screen” represents a pioneering project that establishes a new path in Arab cultural cooperation. The Sharjah site dedicates a platform that brings together creative people in the fields of writing, publishing and cinema and restores the reputation of the Arab narrative as a creative force capable of addressing the world.
