International Federation "Virtus" Amal Mobdi honors and praises her pioneering role in supporting sports with intellectual disabilities

In a gesture of appreciation and gratitude,  Robin Smith, the newly elected President of the International Federation for People with Intellectual Disabilities (Virtus), honored Engineer Amal Mobdi, President of the Egyptian Federation for Intellectual Disabilities and Vice President of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, in recognition of her prominent role and distinguished efforts during her two terms of membership in the International Federation for eight consecutive years.

This came during the General Assembly meetings of the International Federation for Mental Disabilities "Virtus" Which was held on November 8 and 9 in Cairo.

 

During her speech, Robin Smith expressed her deep appreciation for engineer Amal Mobdi, stressing that she was not just a colleague at work, but a dear friend and sister, with whom she had an exceptional human and professional relationship. She said:

 

"Amal is not only a successful leader, but an inspiring woman who works with her heart and mind to serve sports and athletes with mental disabilities. She has always been an example of giving, sincerity, and dedication."

 

Smith added that Amal Mobdi and her team in the Egyptian Federation provided an honorable model in organization and management during hosting the World Table Tennis Championship for People with Disabilities. Mentality 2025, which is the first international event of the Federation (Virtus) to be held in Egypt. And Africa, and pointed out that the tournament was successful by all standards, whether in terms of organization or the positive atmosphere that prevailed among the participating delegations.

 

The President of Virtus continued: In her speech, she said: “Egypt’s organization of this tournament was an exceptional event that reflects Egyptian hospitality and the spirit of cooperation and love enjoyed by this wonderful people. Amal and her team were an example of welcoming, and everyone felt at home."

 

Smith praised the spirit of cooperation and dedication that appeared in the work of the Egyptian Organizing Committee, stressing that this great success enhances Egypt’s international standing as a major destination for hosting world championships for sports for people with mental disabilities.

 

The International President concluded her speech by thanking the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, stressing that Egypt possesses human and organizational capabilities capable of hosting the largest international sporting events, and that the International Federation is proud of its partnership with Egypt and the Egyptian Federation, led by engineer Amal Mobdi, explaining that cooperation will increase during the coming period in preparation for Egypt’s hosting of the Virtus 2027 World Games.

 

The General Assembly meetings of the International Federation for Mental Disabilities “Virtus” began yesterday, Saturday, November 8, 2025. With a word of welcome  Via video conference from Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, who is in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

 

At the beginning of the meetings, engineer Amal Mabda gave a presentation on Egypt’s preparations to host the Virtus 2027 World Games, where she presented the stadiums and hotels that will host the tournament, which won the admiration of all those present among the members of the Federation’s General Assembly.
