Councilor Ahmed Bandari said – in a press conference held this evening from within the central operations room of the National Elections Authority – that it was observed that there was a large turnout by voters to cast their votes in many constituencies, indicating that these electoral densities were mainly concentrated in the subcommittees that are located within the scope of the candidates’ hometowns, especially in the governorates of Assiut and Aswan. He added that the directives issued by the National Elections Authority to the follow-up committees in the governorates and the polling committees included an emphasis on enabling any voter who was within the scope of the electoral association before nine o’clock in the evening, to cast his vote, no matter how long it took.

He pointed out that the National Elections Authority did not monitor the occurrence of any violations throughout the election day, nor did it receive any complaints about the occurrence of violations, pointing out that it became known to the Authority from The reality of the follow-up is that some of the operating rooms following up on the electoral process issued statements indicating that there had been violations of the “propaganda silence” decision. Counsel Ahmed Bandari explained that the Central Operations Room of the National Elections Authority did not receive any complaints in this regard, nor did any information come to it in this regard. He called on all citizens, entities, or operations rooms following up on the electoral process, to submit to the National Elections Authority the necessary complaints and attach to them the evidence that proves the validity of the occurrence of these incidents, so that it can be investigated, the appropriate decision can be taken regarding it, and the truth of the matter is announced to the public. Counsel Bandari made direct communications via “video conference” technology. With the heads of the follow-up committees in the governorates where the electoral process is taking place, who confirmed that most of the sub-polling committees have completed their work, while a number of committees are still continuing to work due to the heavy presence of voters, and that these committees are continuing to enable those voters who came before nine o’clock in the evening to cast their votes.

It also turned out that all the committees of Luxor and New Valley governorates were the only ones that closed their doors at exactly nine o’clock in the evening, after it became clear that there were no voters at the time. The heads of the follow-up committees in the governorates indicated that the election day did not witness any obstacles or problems that would have disrupted the progress of the electoral process, except for a limited number of advisors, heads of sub-polling committees, and some of the administrative employees assisting them, to fatigue or health crises, which required sending in advisors from the reserve lists to complete the elections.

The first phase of the electoral process includes 14 governorates: Giza, Fayoum, and Beni. Suef, Minya, Assiut, New Valley, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, the Red Sea, Alexandria, Beheira and Matrouh.

1,281 candidates are running in the electoral competition in this phase of the elections for individual seats, and one electoral list in the West Delta sector, and the central, southern and northern Upper Egypt sectors for the seats allocated to the electoral list system.

The number of voters who are entitled to cast their votes in the first phase of the House of Representatives elections is 35 million. And 279,922 voters, distributed among 5,606 subcommittees within 70 electoral districts.
