Schools warn against tampering with computers and prevent students from modifying operating systems

The administrations of a number of public schools issued an important warning to their students about tampering with ministerial computers, as the date of the end-of-semester exams for the academic year 2025-2026 approaches, warning that any modification to the operating systems may lead to preventing the student from taking electronic exams.

School administrations explained, in circulars and internal statements seen by Emirates Today, that teacher teams observed during field trips that some students were installing unapproved or unstable Windows operating systems, in addition to using unauthorized applications that may cause direct technical damage that affects the efficiency of the devices and the basic operating system.

The schools confirmed that these amendments “may lead to significant malfunctions that hinder the student’s access to the electronic testing system even if he attends school on the day of the exam,” stressing that educational institutions are not responsible for any malfunctions or malfunctions resulting from these individual changes.

The administrations called on all students, especially those who modified the operating systems or settings of their devices, to urgently review the technical support offices or computer teachers in their schools, with the aim of ensuring the safety of the devices and restoring the system approved by the Ministry in the event of any modifications or malfunctions.

She stressed that this procedure is urgent and essential to ensure students’ readiness for the end-of-semester exams, noting that any delay in correcting or updating the system may lead to the student being deprived of taking the electronic exam.

She stressed the need to fully comply with the technical instructions issued by the Ministry of Education, to ensure that the examination process runs smoothly and efficiently, stressing her keenness to provide a safe and stable digital educational environment.

Computer processing

In a related context, the administrations of a number of schools sent a special warning to students, stressing the importance of preparing computers in advance to ensure the smooth performance of electronic tests without technical obstacles.

She stressed the necessity of verifying that the links designated for the tests are working properly, making sure that there are no unnecessary updates to the “Secure Lockdown” program, and only updating the basic browsers such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge only, in order to ensure the stability of the system during the exam.

Technical support

The schools announced the allocation of a technical support engineer to provide technical assistance on Thursday, November 13, calling on students to bring ministerial equipment charged and ready for examination and repair when needed.

The administrations were asked to attach an identification card to the device that includes the student’s data, academic number, grade, track, and password, along with an accurate description of the problem, to speed up the technical support process and ensure the readiness of all devices before the start of the tests.
