cooperation "Egyptian – British" To support training programs and develop food inspection mechanisms

Dr. Tariq Al-Houbi, Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority, received at the authority’s headquarters a high-level trade delegation from the United Kingdom, headed by Rob Lally, Head of the Africa Sector, Economic and Commercial Relations at the British Ministry of Business and Trade.

 

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two sides in the areas of food safety and trade, and reviewed aspects of existing cooperation, in addition to discussing a number of topics related to facilitating the access of Egyptian products to British markets, as well as the mechanism for registering products and product white lists. The meeting also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the field of capacity building and technical training, especially in the areas of market monitoring and the application of modern food safety systems, where the importance of exchanging experiences between the two sides was stressed in developing technical personnel and raising their efficiency, ensuring tight control over local markets and improving the food inspection and control system, in accordance with international best practices.

Dr. Al-Hobi stressed during the meeting the keenness of the National Food Safety Authority to support international cooperation and exchange technical and scientific expertise with various partners, which contributes to strengthening The food safety system, raising the quality of Egyptian products, and protecting consumer health.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue coordination between the two sides during the next phase, to develop practical mechanisms to expand areas of cooperation and enhance integration in files of common interest.
