Rania Al-Mashat: 75 billion pounds to invest in the human element… and improve the quality of life

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, stressed that human development represents one of the basic tributaries to support economic growth and achieve social justice, stressing that investment in human capital is a direct investment in a more productive and sustainable future.

 

This came during her speech today at the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development 2025, which is being held in the New Administrative Capital under the patronage of the President of the Republic, and in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and a number From the ministers of the Ministerial Group for Human Development, including Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ahmed Hanno, Minister of Culture, Minister Mohamed Gebran, Minister of Labor, and a number of dignitaries. She indicated the existence of international partnerships worth $9.5 billion, including 25% in the form of grants, in cooperation with a number of donor countries such as Japan and France, which contributes to supporting national programs for education, health and women’s empowerment.

Improving the quality of life

Al-Mashat indicated that the Egyptian state is paying increasing attention to improving the quality of life of the citizen throughout the stages of his life, through the development of the two health systems. And education, and ensuring their right to reap the fruits of development. 

She stressed that macroeconomic stability contributed to creating an attractive climate for investment, increasing productivity and economic growth, explaining that the economic and social development plan is presented annually to the House of Representatives and the Senate within a vision extending from 2014 to 2025.

“A decent life” A model of justice

The Minister stressed that development efforts are not limited to direct services only, but also include improving indirect services such as providing adequate housing and integrated infrastructure, in addition to major national initiatives, most notably the “Decent Life” initiative, which targets 18 million citizens in more than 150 villages, and contributes to the elimination of multidimensional poverty, as about 68% of the population of the targeted governorates benefit from it, in a way that enhances social justice and distributes the fruits of development in an appropriate manner. Integration of efforts to achieve comprehensive growth

Al-Mashat concluded her speech by emphasizing that the human development group of ministers is working in continuous integration and coordination to serve the state’s goals in the fields of tourism, agriculture, energy, education, and health, which contributes to raising the real growth rate of per capita income to about 4.5%, and achieving justice in the distribution of the returns of economic growth, which reflects positively on the citizen’s standard of living.
