Health: Prostate cancer…early detection is the key to better results

 

Dr. Mohamed Hassani, Assistant  The Minister of Health for Public Health Initiatives, in a discussion session entitled “Prostate Cancer: Early Detection is the Key to Better Outcomes,” on the sidelines of the third edition of the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development (PHDC25), sponsored by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry’s official spokesman, confirmed that the session discussed the efforts of presidential initiatives for early detection of cancer, pointing to Egypt’s shift from reactive care to an integrated proactive model that focuses on early detection and prevention, In line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The Presidential Initiative (PICE) embodies this transformation, targeting 4 main types (lung, colon, prostate, and cervix) through awareness, early diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.

The Egyptian approach is characterized by integrating detection into primary care, enhancing referral, developing human capabilities, and digital infrastructure, with positive initial results in early diagnosis and improved coordination, an extension of the successes of eliminating Hepatitis C and women’s health.

View Dr. Hassani is developing treatment protocols, expanding diagnostic capacity (radiology), enhancing community participation, equipping primary care teams to proactively reach high-risk groups, and early detection messages to build confidence.

He highlighted digital transformation through artificial intelligence for integrated records, patient tracking, and accurate initial examinations to avoid errors.
