Egypt is in the second group in the draw for the 2026 African Handball Cup

The draw for the 2026 African Cup of Nations Handball Championship, which took place today, resulted in the Egyptian national team being placed in the second group of the upcoming tournament, which is scheduled to be held in the country of Rwanda next January.
The Pharaohs come in the first level of the draw, along with the teams of Algeria, Tunisia, and Cape Verde, while the second group, next to Egypt, includes the teams of: Angola, Gabon, And Uganda.
The Egyptian handball team hopes to maintain the title for the fourth edition in a row, after being able to win the last three editions, confirming its continental dominance. The Pharaohs currently occupy second place in the ranking of the most decorated teams in the African Handball Nations, with 9 titles, behind Tunisia, which leads with 10 titles.
The tournament is an opportunity for the Pharaohs to strengthen their continental records, and demonstrate the strength of Egyptian handball against the most prominent African teams in the next tournament.
