3,300 incidents… Storm Claudia leaves one dead and injured in Portugal

At least one person was killed Saturday in in the south of has been hitting the country for days, according to official sources.
Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa expressed in a brief statement: "His solidarity with the families of the victims, following the passage of Tropical Depression Claudia that struck Albufeira this morning"

Earlier, the Civil Protection Agency reported on social media that strong winds led to "Two people were injured and one person was missing" At a camping site in Albufeira.
Local media speculated that the dead man was the same one who was initially reported missing.
The Civil Protection Agency also reported that "Partial collapse of the roof of a restaurant in a coastal resort near Albufeira (…) resulting in 20 people being injured"
Floods and falling trees
Several areas in southern Portugal were placed on orange alert on Saturday due to bad weather conditions in the country for several days.
An elderly couple was found dead on Thursday in their home near Lisbon as a result of floods caused by heavy rain.
The Portuguese Civil Protection Agency reported on Saturday morning that it had recorded more than 3,300 incidents since Wednesday, mostly flooding and tree falls across Portugal, as a result of Tropical Storm Claudia.
