3 tourists died and 7 people were detained.. Details of a poisoning incident in a hotel in Istanbul

Birgun newspaper reported that all the guests of the unnamed hotel located in the Fatih neighborhood in Istanbul were transferred to other hotels, without specifying the number.

And on Saturday, two of the hotel guests were transferred to the hospital after suffering from nausea and vomiting, according to the newspaper.

Poisoning in Istanbul

And family members were injured. They became unwell on Wednesday after eating food from street vendors in the tourist neighborhood of Ortakoy on the European side of the Bosphorus.

They were taken to hospital, but the two children, aged three and six years, died on Thursday, while the mother died the next day, according to the Minister of Justice.

The regional director of the Turkish Ministry of Health in Istanbul, Abdullah Emre Guner, said on the X platform on Friday night that the father is still in "Critical condition"

Insecticides

Several media reports touched on the types of foods the family members are believed to have eaten.

However, investigators discovered that a room on the ground floor of the hotel had recently been sprayed with insecticides, according to what was reported on Saturday by the website of Hurriyet newspaper.

The police had arrested a hotel employee and two pest control workers, raising to seven the number of people detained in connection with the incident.
