The Foreign Minister delivers the keynote speech at the opening session of the Cairo Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Data

Share Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, today, Sunday, at the activities of the second session of the AIDC2 '25 Artificial Intelligence, Data Centers and Cloud Computing Exhibition and Conference, which is being held this year under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The conference brings together an elite group of experts, innovators, and entrepreneurs from various parts of the world, to reflect Egypt’s position as an advanced regional hub in the fields of artificial intelligence, data centers and cloud computing, and to embody a comprehensive strategic vision. It is consistent with the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to give utmost importance to strengthening the digital infrastructure, expanding the scope of investments in the data sector, and investing in Egypt’s unique geographical location as a fulcrum for the intersection of global communications cables.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered the keynote speech in the opening session of the conference, during which he touched on the importance of artificial intelligence because of the opportunities it provides to enhance sustainable development efforts, improve public services, and stimulate innovation in various sectors such as health, education, agriculture, and public administration, in a way that achieves a transformation. Economically and socially it keeps pace with the aspirations of the people.

Minister Abdel-Ati also indicated that Egypt has taken serious steps towards building an integrated national system for artificial intelligence governance, which included establishing the National Council for Artificial Intelligence, adopting a multi-stage national strategy that works to integrate artificial intelligence into government services, strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors, supporting scientific research, preserving linguistic and cultural heritage, and developing human capabilities.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also addressed the ministry’s effective role in shaping the future Artificial Intelligence, through active participation in all international forums concerned with the governance of artificial intelligence in Security Council sessions, and in resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly, leading to the launch of the “Global Digital Charter” In September 2024, which Egypt participated in drafting with the aim of starting to launch a global dialogue on the governance of artificial intelligence.

He also touched on Egypt’s active role at the Arab and African levels, as Egypt led efforts to prepare the unified Arab strategy for artificial intelligence, as well as the African continental strategy for artificial intelligence, in addition to representing North Africa in the advisory group established by the African Peace and Security Council, to study the impact of artificial intelligence on continental security.

At the conclusion of his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his He hopes that this conference will be an opportunity to convey a message to the international community about the importance of exploiting this refinement to enhance international cooperation, and to dedicate the principles of transparency, justice, and fairness in the design and employment of artificial intelligence technologies, in a way that serves the public good, puts the human being at the heart of the digital equation, and consolidates Egypt’s position as a regional center for technological innovation in the Middle East and Africa.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs inspected the Ministry of Education’s pavilion at the exhibition, and listened to a detailed presentation of how the Ministry applies digital technology to develop educational services provided to students in Egyptian schools, as well as A demo of the new phone application “Your School in Egypt” Which the Ministry will launch before the beginning of next year, which aims to provide distinguished educational services to the children of Egyptians abroad, and facilitate their study of the Egyptian curricula according to the latest technological means, with a focus on strengthening their connection to the homeland culturally and educationally.
