"General Authority for Islamic Affairs" The procedures for licensing the construction of mosques are unified at the state level

Abu Dhabi, 17 November / WAM / The General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat announced the most prominent achievements and steps taken in achieving the goals of the “Facilitating the Construction of Mosques” initiative, which was launched in cooperation with the Government Accelerators Center in the Prime Minister’s Office in the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs this year, with the aim of zeroing out bureaucracy, unifying procedures and standards related to building mosques, simplifying the customer’s journey, and facilitating the procedures for receiving his contribution and endowment.
His Excellency Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Darai, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, stressed their keenness to translate the strategy of the UAE government into in-depth future visions that take keeping up with and benefiting from modern technology as basic foundations upon which to build its plans to serve its goals and mission in society, noting the care that the Houses of God receive from the wise leadership and its support for the Authority in all its affairs and initiatives.
He said that the Authority is keen to eliminate bureaucracy in all its government services and dealings with the community, as it has devoted great attention to achieving the goals of this initiative by creating a more efficient approach characterized by speed and smoothness in implementing mosque construction projects.
He explained that the Authority has unified the procedures for licensing the construction of mosques at the state level to reduce discrepancy between the competent authorities, reduce the cost of construction by adopting unified standards to motivate benefactors and supporters to contribute to the construction of mosques, simplify administrative paths and reduce the time frames for completing transactions by 50%, provide an updated database for lands ready for construction, activate electronic follow-up of mosque construction transactions, and extend the validity period of no-objection certificates for mosque lands. 33 lands are ready for construction in 4 emirates, as a first stage, and presented to benefactors. The public can also view them through the authority’s website and smart application.
Dr. Al-Darai appreciated the cooperation, harmony and cultural integration with the Accelerators Center to serve common goals, extending his thanks to all members of society, benefactors and philanthropists, for their willingness to donate their money and their contribution to the construction and architecture of the Houses of God, which have their place and role in developing society spiritually, religiously, awareness-raisingly and socially, and spreading tolerant human and moral values.
