Al-Sisi directs the complete or partial cancellation of parliamentary elections if the will of the voters cannot be revealed

Cairo, November 17, 2017 – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said that the National Elections Authority must completely cancel the current phase of the House of Representatives elections or cancel it in specific constituencies if the true will of the voters cannot be reached, in light of the numerous complaints, appeals, and events witnessed by some individual constituencies during the first phase of the elections.
President Sisi called on the authority to fully scrutinize the examination of appeals and complaints, reveal the will of the voters in full transparency, and ensure that candidate delegates obtain copies of the counting minutes in the subcommittees, in addition to announcing the measures taken regarding electoral propaganda violations to ensure that they are not repeated in the upcoming rounds.
The elections will be held in two phases according to the schedule announced by the National Elections Authority, with the first phase ending on November 10 and 11, while the second phase will be held on November 24 and 25 to complete the rest of the seats.
