Neymar acquires Pele’s legacy for $18 million

The Brazilian UOL website revealed that the company owned by the father of Neymar Jr., the Santos striker, has acquired the full trademark rights of the late legend Pele, with the deal being concluded for an amount of 18 million US dollars.

The official announcement of the deal is scheduled to be made next Wednesday, which marks the anniversary of Pele’s 1,000th goal.

The source stated that the negotiations went smoothly, especially since Pele’s brand has not been fully exploited since his death in December 2022.

This acquisition includes:

Rights to use the image and name of the three-time world champion.

Licensing rights to merchandise, historical archives and other assets related to the legend.

Neymar scored only 3 goals in 16 matches with Santos in the Brazilian League during the current season, as he currently occupies 16th place in the standings with 36 points after 33 rounds.
